Awarded Best Director for a Short Film at the Yellowstone International Film Festival for Maeve in the Dark, KASIA KACZMAREK is a London-based film and music video director and a published author.
The film has previously won Best Sci-Fi of the APEX Film Awards, who called it "stylish and unique [...] a breath of fresh air made with a complete understanding of storytelling."

This marked Kasia's return to the programme, following the selection in 2018 with her Distinction graded MA thesis script Maa which she wrote at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Toiling as a production manager by day to cover the scandalous London rent, Kasia continues to work on a slate of original projects and commissioned scripts, having already delivered two feature-length screenplays to independent producers. Two of her sci-fi novellas, Calibrate and Mumbai, have been published in Oscurità and Bright Neon Futures anthologies respectively. Print and digital copies are available here. |

Currently in the festival circuit, the short has already screened at BAFTA Qualifying Underwire 2022, BIFA Qualifying Beeston 2022 and the Short Film Corner of Cannes Film Festival, amongst others, while the script has been a finalist in the Shore Scripts and Film Pipeline competitions and included in the Talent Demo Lab at Camerimage 2020.
